“All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me.

Therefore go and make disciples of all nations,

baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son

and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey

everything I have commanded you.

And surely I am with you always,

to the very end of the age.”

We believe that missions and local outreach ministry is a calling and privilege of every one who knows Christ as Savior, not just for those serving as full-time missionaries. The calling, which our Savior presented to the body of Christ in the Great Commission (Mt. 28:18-20) gives to all believers the responsibility to make disciples of all peoples (ethne) of the world.

At Cole, we understand this calling to mean that God will raise up some out of our body to go out, to serve as short- or long-term missionaries, but that He will call many to remain behind to support those who go.  We also believe that at this point in time, God has called Cole to focus our long-term missionary efforts primarily on the unreached people groups of the Middle East and East Asia, with a special focus on the Muslim world.  We remain open to sending long-term workers to other mission fields, near and far, as God specifically directs us.

To assist and support our entire body at Cole as each one seeks to respond to God’s individual calling in this area, Cole Missions seeks to achieve four strategic goals:

I.  To Make World Christians of the Cole Church Body.

What Does This Mean? – To teach, encourage and challenge the entire church body to personally embrace and become involved in the building of the kingdom of God at home and around the world, in accordance with individual gifting and calling.

How Do We Do This? – Through teaching (World Insight, Sunday School classes), sharing by missionaries, Field Staff, and occasional mission speakers, and by hosting occasional special mission events.

II.  To Mobilize Some from our Body for Missions.

What Does This Mean? – To provide the opportunity for our entire church to experience missions on a short-term basis, and to encourage and assist some whom God would call to long-term missions service, in preparing for and responding to His call.

How Do We Do This? – Through providing organized short-term mission opportunities for all ages, specialized missions education classes, and the “Goers Group”, a support group for future long-term missionaries.

III.  To Provide a Solid Support Base for Cole Field Staff and Missionaries.

What Does This Mean? – To provide the people resources and infrastructure to establish a solid foundation of support for those serving as long-term missionaries.

How Do We Do This? – Through development of senders teams, which provide prayer and moral support for each missionary, and practical assistance when they are home on furlough; by maintaining an administrative home office function to assist Field Staff (and to a lesser degree, missionaries); by maintaining an ongoing flow of support and encouragement by the church leadership, including occasional field visits; and by printing a monthly prayer calendar of current needs of our missionary force, for prayer support at home.

IV.To Promote Involvement of the Cole Body in Local Outreach Efforts.

What Does This Mean? – To provide information on existing outreach needs and opportunities in the Treasure Valley, and to provide occasional training classes to equip those in our body for evangelistic outreach.

How Do We Do This? – Through dissemination of information regarding local outreach needs and opportunities, information regarding periodic valley-wide evangelistic and service project events, occasional outreach training classes at Cole, and encouragement of those currently serving locally.
